Skullduggery Pleasant, a skeleton detective, and Valkyrie Cain (a quiet Stephanie Edgley) have to stop Baron Vengeous, who plans to activate a Frankenstein type beast, the Groesquery. After many chases and rescues, and many other scary characters involved, Valkyrie ends up killing the Grotesquery, but the end of the story leads the reader to believe there will be more action and saving needed in the future. This story is filled with humorous dialogue and keeps the reader turning the pages because of the nonstop action. The magic and fantasy of the book stay consistent and the reader can find themselves easily immersed in this good vs evil fantasy world.
